La Gomera Islands, Angela Merkel and the future of Europe

La Gomera island is one of the more beautiful canary islands. Is green, small, special, and mystic. The island of La Gomera, almost circular, is the second smallest of the Canary Islands.

It is located in the western province of Tenerife and its capital is San Sebastián de La Gomera. It is also known as the Columbian island, as Admiral Christopher Columbus, on his voyage for the discovery of the New World stopped in the place for supplies and provisions.

It has a population around 24,000.

Garajonay National Park, the jewel of the Canaries natural heritage, was declared a World Heritage Site by UNESCO in 1986. It has one of the best kept secrets of the islands. The forest of "El Cedro" is a true relic of the Tertiary and world reserve for the conservation of laurel. Thanks to the action of the sea of clouds (horizontal rain) the vegetation is very thick and we can find faille, heather, laurel and ferns. It is also being full of trails to hike, where we can learn firsthand of all the secrets of this ancient forest.

Angela Merkel use to go to Garajonay Park to walk around. And I think she need to think in Europe there. She need to think in all of us, in permanent crisis and try to resolve the eternal european problem in the peace of La Gomera. All we need it, Angela.
